THREE PIONEERS EARN ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
DENTON , Texas – Texas Woman’s University had three players selected to the Lone Star North Division all-conference team led by senior setter Carley Messmer on the first-team announced by league officials on Monday.
Messmer was also named to the LSC all-tournament team for her play in the postseason. Messmer made the first-team for the second consecutive year after getting honorable mention honors as a sophomore. This season, she played in every game but one averaging 10.47 assists per game. Messmer accumulated 1351 assists, 145 kills and 322 digs in 2005.
Junior Robin Hawkins earned second-team honors. She was a complete player for TWU leading the team in kills (448), digs (533) and service aces (44).
Kandis Schroeder was recognized as Freshman of the Year. The middle blocker was dominant at the net for the Pioneers. She averaged 2.71 kills per game with a season-high 24 put downs against Midwestern State. Schroeder led the team with 132 total blocks including 23 solo and 109 assists.
