PIONEERS FALL TO AGGIES IN FOUR GAMES

LAWTON , Okla. – Texas Woman’s University struggled in a four-game loss, 23-30, 30-26, 24-30, 16-30, to Cameron University in Lone Star Conference action.

The loss drops the Pioneers to 13-15 overall and 5-3 in the LSC North Division. Cameron (13-12, 3-5) won their first match under the direction of interim head coach Kim Vinson after TeAna Crutcher resigned last week.

“Cameron played extremely well under Coach Vinson and we didn’t play to our potential,” head coach Shelly Barberee said. “I put everyone in and used all our timeouts. There are no excuses.”

After dropping the first set TWU took game two with a match-high 20 team kills. Kandis Schroeder led the way with four of her team-high 13 put downs.

Cameron out hit TWU in games three and four en route to the victory. In the third game, the Aggies had 16 kills and hit .191. The TWU offense was in the black with 13 hitting errors and 11 kills while Cameron hit an efficient .256 in game four.

Robin Hawkins was the only other Pioneer in double digits with 11 kills in addition to 24 digs. Carley Messmer added 19 digs and 48 set assists. Libero Michele Villarreal had 16 digs.

The Pioneers host Dallas Baptist on Oct. 25 at 7:00 p.m.
