PIONEERS STRUGGLE IN LOSS TO PATRIOTS

DALLAS – Texas Woman’s University struggled in a three-game (15-30, 26-30 and 22-30) loss to Dallas Baptist University.

The Patriots posted better numbers than the Pioneers (6-6) in every category. TWU hit just .039 as a team compared to .191 for DBU.

“We played flat. The whole team has to play better,” head coach Shelly Barberee said. “We are inconsistent and must improve as we head into conference play.”

The Pioneers were led by Sharon Schaffner with six kills. Robin Hawkins and Nicole Everett added five put downs each. Libero Michele Villarreal had 15 digs. Carley Messmer and Jill Arnold had setting responsibilities with 16 and 9 assists, respectively.

TWU travels to Abilene Christian University on Sept. 15-16 for the Lone Star Conference Crossover Tournament. The Pioneers play Eastern New Mexico, Angelo State and Tarleton State .
