PIONEERS ANNOUNCE 2005 VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE

DENTON , Texas – The Lone Star Conference Crossover Tournament, a home quadrangular and nine home matches headline the Texas Woman’s University volleyball schedule in 2005.

The Pioneers, under the direction of head coach Shelly Barberee, begin the season with two tournaments. First is a trip to Lakewood, Colo., to play in the Colorado Christian tournament Aug. 26-27. TWU continues tournament action Sept. 2-3 at Southern Arkansas. After a game on Sept. 7 at Tarleton State, TWU hosts a quadrangular match with Southern Arkansas, Ouachita Baptist and Tarleton State on Sept. 10.

TWU will prepare for the first of two Lone Star Conference Crossovers with a game at Dallas Baptist on Sept. 13. The following weekend, Sept. 16-17, is the first crossover hosted by Abilene Christian. The Pioneers begin conference action with games against two of the top teams in the LSC North Division in Cameron and Central Oklahoma on Sept. 22 and Sept. 24, respectively. Next, is a three-game road trip to Texas Wesleyan (Sept. 27), Texas A&M-Commerce (Sept. 29) and Southeastern Oklahoma (Oct. 1).

The Pioneers’ longest homestand of the season starts with an Oct. 4 meeting with Midwestern State. Southwestern Oklahoma (Oct. 6) and Howard Payne (Oct. 12) visit Magee Arena before the second Crossover on Oct. 14-15. Then TWU visits Central Oklahoma and Cameron for two critical North Division matches on Oct. 20 and 22, respectively.

The Pioneers host four of their last six matches to end the regular season. After playing Dallas Baptist (Oct. 25), Southeastern Oklahoma (Oct. 27) and Texas A&M-Commerce (Oct. 29) on their home floor, they travel to Midwestern State on Nov. 1. A non-conference match with Texas Wesleyan is the last home match on Nov. 3 before TWU travels to Southwestern Oklahoma on Nov. 5.

The LSC Tournament is Nov. 10-12 at the site of the North Division top seed with the top three teams in each division qualifying.
