VOLLEYBALL PICKED TO FINISH THIRD IN THE NORTH DIVISION
DENTON, Texas – TheTexas Woman’s University volleyball team was picked to finish third in the Lone Star Conference North Division according to the league’s annual preseason poll.
Central Oklahoma was the favorite to win the division with 15 first-place votes on the 18 ballots for 123 points. Defending LSC North champion Cameron picked up the other three first-place votes for second place with 97 points. The Pioneers received nine second-place votes to finish with 93 points followed by Midwestern State, Texas A&M-Commerce, Southeastern Oklahoma and first-year program Southwestern Oklahoma.
In 2004, TWU finished third in the North with a record of 15-19 overall and 6-4 in the division. The Pioneers return six players, including 2004 North Division All-Conference first-team selection Carley Messmer, and have seven newcomers on the 2005 squad.
