LUNA NAMED TO LONE STAR CONFERENCE ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
 DENTON , Texas – Texas Woman’s University sophomore Romy Luna was named to the 2005 Lone Star Conference soccer All-Academic Team. Christine Hornisher, Melissa Williams and Mandy Lambert were named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.20 grade point average with a minimum of 24 semester hours completed at the nominating institution.
The Pioneers finished the season with their best overall (9-9-2) and conference (4-5) record in the program’s brief four-year history. TWU also earned it’s first-ever trip to the postseason with a fifth-place finish in the LSC.
A kinesiology major with a flawless 4.0 GPA, Luna played in 19 games for TWU with five goals and two assists. For her efforts in the postseason, she was named to the LSC All-Tournament team. Luna hit the game-winning penalty kick in the Pioneers’ first round victory over Texas A&M-Commerce in a shootout. She also scored in regulation to give TWU a 2-1 lead in the second half.
A Denton, Texas, native, Hornisher has 3.86 GPA in finance at TWU. The sophomore recorded a goal and an assist in 19 games.
Williams, a kinesiology major with a 3.38 GPA, earned all-conference honorable mention honors. The junior from Arlington, Texas, was a solid defender for TWU.
Lambert has a 3.41 GPA in kinesiology. The junior from The Colony, Texas, played in 18 games for the Pioneers. She scored three goals and registered an assist.
