PIONEERS FALL TO BRONCHOS TO CONCLUDE NOTABLE SEASON

EDMOND , Okla. – Texas Woman’s University fell to Central Oklahoma 0-4 in the semifinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament, ending its finest season in the program’s four-year history.

The Pioneers (9-9-2, 4-5) finished the season with their best overall and conference record. TWU also earned it’s first-ever trip to the postseason with a fifth-place finish in the LSC.

“I am extremely proud of the team for getting here and advancing. We had a great season,” head coach Fleur Benatar. “UCO is a good team. The team played hard until the end and left everything on the field. To finish fourth in the tournament is exciting.”

UCO junior Lindsey Hull was involved in all four goals, scoring three and assisting on the fourth. The Pioneers were shut out for the sixth time this season.

Hull started the scoring at the 8:27 mark with a shot into the lower right corner of the net. With less than five minutes remaining in the first half, Hull scored her second goal with a shot inside the left post from 10 yards out.

TWU had its best scoring opportunity 20 minutes into the second half when an Emily Meinen shot ricocheted off the crossbar. The Bronchos Carmen Davis followed with a goal assisted by Hull and Moriah Chinnock. Ahead 3-0, Hull recorded a hat trick with a goal at the 78:57 mark off a Chinnock cross.

Freshman Aly Vincent continued to be strong in goal for TWU. She allowed four goals but had 13 saves.

“We played the whole 90 minutes and didn’t give up. I am proud of everyone and glad to go out this big,” senior Breann Morris said. “Everyone thought we would finish ninth but look at us now.”

UCO advances to the league championship game against Midwestern State on Nov. 6 at 1:00 p.m. MSU defeated West Texas A&M, 1-0, in overtime.
