SOCCER OPENS CONFERENCE PLAY WITH A VICTORY
SAN ANGELO , Texas – Texas Woman’s opened Lone Star Conference play with a 2-0 victory over Angelo State .
The Pioneers (5-2) began LSC action with a win for the first time in the programs four-year history. Senior Melissa Scott scored both goals for TWU.
“We played well. Angelo came out flat and we controlled the first half and most of the second,” head coach Fleur Benatar said. “I am proud that we stepped up. It is exciting to win our first conference game with a road trip. Natalie ( Harrison ) was outstanding and Breann (Morris) played great as well.”
TWU went ahead early with Scott’s first goal in the seventh minute of action off a pass from Romy Luna. Scott scored again in the 49 th minute by putting a corner kick in above the ASU goalkeeper to give the Pioneers a 2-0 margin.
TWU travels to Midwestern State for a league match-up on Sept. 28 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
