PIONEERS FALL TO DRURY

SPRINGFIELD , Mo. – Drury University beat Texas Woman’s University 2-0 in a rain delayed contest.

The Pioneers (1-2) played well but didn’t score against Drury. The game was delayed twice because of the weather, once before the contest began and again with three minutes in regulation.

“We played awesome and with a lot of heart. I felt that we dominated the game but didn’t score and the delays were frustrating,” head coach Fleur Benatar said. “Both teams were evenly matched but once again we didn’t score. Aly Vincent had some great saves. Erica Butler, Melissa Williams, Breann Morris and Natalie Harrison were solid as well.”

Drury led 1-0 at halftime and scored again on a free kick in the second period. In the last minutes of the game a shot by Amanda Odino hit the post.

Next, TWU plays Newman on Sept. 4 in a neutral site game at Springfield , Mo.
