SOCCER SCHEDULE SET FOR 2005
DENTON , Texas – Texas Woman’s University head soccer coach Fleur Benatar announced the 2005 schedule which is highlighted by nine home games as the Pioneers enter their fourth season of competition.
TWU begins the season with a short trip to Dallas to play Delta State on the campus of Dallas Baptist University on Aug. 27. The first home game of the year follows on Aug. 28 at 5:00 p.m. with non-conference foe Incarnate Word. Next, the Pioneers play three consecutive games on the road before returning to Denton to host Texas Southern on Sept. 11.
Lone Star Conference action begins on Sept. 23 at Angelo State, who the Pioneers defeated 2-1 last season. Following is a cross-town match-up with the University of North Texas on Sept. 25. After playing at Midwestern State on Sept. 28, TWU has a four-game homestand beginning with St. Edward’s on Oct. 2. A conference weekend with East Central on Oct. 7 and Northeastern State on Oct. 9 precedes a non-conference game with Dallas Baptist on Oct. 11.
Next, the Pioneers travel north for league contests with Central Oklahoma and Southwestern Oklahoma on Oct. 14 and 16, respectively. A home game with St. Mary’s on Oct. 21 paves the way for a trip to Texas A&M-Commerce on Oct. 23. TWU finishes the regular season by hosting West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico on Oct. 28 and 30.
The top six teams in the LSC play in a single-elimination postseason tournament Nov. 4-6 hosted by Central Oklahoma. The Bronchos earned the right to host as regular season champions in 2004.
