PIONEERS NAMED TO CONFERENCE
ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

Texas – Texas Woman’s University softball
players Lindsy Russ-Keller and Rachel Townsend were named
to the Lone Star Conference South Division All-Academic
Team announced
today by the league office.
Amanda Arnold, Amanda Emory, Amanda Chambless, Courtney Martin,
Sarah White and Ashley Hartley received LSC Commissioner’s
Honor Roll honors as well. Five of the eight Pioneers earned
a perfect 4.0 grade point average in the
2005 spring semester.
Russ-Keller was also named to the 2005 LSC All-Conference South Division first
team. The sophomore led the Pioneers with dominant pitching throughout the
season. After a stellar freshman campaign, she posted a 1.61 ERA this year
with 126 strikeouts. Russ-Keller broke the school record for strikeouts this
year against the College of Saint Mary with 13 sit downs. She was the LSC Pitcher
of the Week on March 22 and has been named the Denton Record-Chronicle Player
of the Week twice this year.
Townsend started all 46 games for TWU at third base. Offensively, she led
the team in at-bats (141), runs scored (19) and hits (37). She also stole
10 bases
in 12 attempts.
Arnold played first base, making 41 starts, this season. She had a team-high
37 hits, 11 doubles and 21 RBIs. Defensively, she recorded 234 put outs, six
assists and five errors for a .980 fielding percentage.
Emory was named to the 2005 LSC All-Conference South Division second team as
well after a solid year in centerfield for TWU. She started all but one of
the Pioneers games with a .298 batting average. Emory had 31 hits, scored 15
runs and stole 11 bases in 13 attempts. She registered 51 put outs with four
assists while fielding at a .965 clip.
Chambless played in 23 games with 19 starts for the Pioneers. She started 18
games in the circle for the Pioneers. Amanda recorded 11 complete games and
five shutouts in 107.1 innings of work. In limited at-bats, she had two hits
with a double, two RBIs and scored two runs.
Martin started 43 games for TWU. The outfielder made just one error with 47
put outs and one assist for a .980 fielding percentage. At the plate, she recorded
28 hits with a double. Courtney stole a team-high 14 bases as well.
White made 44 starts in the outfield. In 90 at-bats, she had 21 hits with five
doubles and a triple. Sarah scored 12 runs and had 10 RBIs.
Hartley played in 24 games for TWU with five starts. In 31 at-bats, she had
four hits with a double, RBI and scored two runs.
