RUSS-KELLER NAMED LONE STAR CONFERENCE
PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Texas – Texas Woman’s University softball
pitcher Lindsy Russ-Keller was named the Lone Star Conference
Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 15-21.
“I think Lindsy at this moment is the best pitcher in the conference,” head
coach Dianne Baker said. “Her stats show that and she is keeping people
at bay. We had to keep the best hitting club (in the conference) in check to
win three of four games against Eastern New Mexico. She is very deserving of
this award. For us to be successful she has to keep on her mission.”
Russ-Keller picked up three victories including two shutouts against the Zias
last week while allowing just one run with 19 strikeouts for a .30 earned run
average. Russ-Keller pitched all nine innings in the 1-0 victory over conference
foe ENMU. She also pitched a 6-1 win over Missouri Valley College and a 6-0
triumph over ENMU in game one of the series. The Pioneers went 5-1 over the
week with the loss ending a 13-game win streak at home. Russ-Keller is now
11-4 on the season with a .29 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 97 innings. Of the 12
runs she has allowed only four have been earned.
Up next, the Pioneers (17-9, 5-3) host Oklahoma Panhandle State on March 29
for a doubleheader beginning at 5:00 p.m.
