TWU to host National Fastpitch

Woman's University has been selected as one of 12 host sites
for the 2004-05 National
Fastpitch Coaches College, it was announced by the NFCA recently.
The only Division II school to be selected, TWU will host
Course 401 - Personal and Professional Development. The course
will be offered Jan. 7-9, 2005 at the Arts and Science Building
on the campus of TWU.
Participants enrolled in the course will improve their skills
related to conflict management, negotiation, communication,
leadership, motivation and discipline. The course will also
examine steps to building cooperation, credibility, trust,
confidence, coachability and positive relationships.
The course will also allow participants a forum to discuss
coaching philosophies, styles, values, roles and fatal flaws.
Coaches will also learn how burnout can affect them and how
to remain a spirited coach.
The instructors for the course include Laurie Soltman, a specialist
in communications and life skills programming, former New Mexico
coach Susan Craig, and former Northwestern coach and director
of the NFCC Sharon Drysdale.
The cost of the three-day course is $225 for NFCA members
and $250 for non-NFCA members. Participants can save $25 by
registering at least 14 days in advance. For more information,
