EASTER NAMED PRESEASON PLAYER
OF THE YEAR

Texas – Texas Woman’s University standout
Stefani Easter was the overwhelming choice for Lone Star Conference
South Division Preseason Player of the Year honors according
to an announcement from the league office.
“Stefani being picked preseason MVP is not a surprise to me; it’s
well deserved,” said head coach Dianne Baker. “She has had a lot
on her plate this fall. She is such a tough competitor and there seems to be
no let up with her. I just want Stefani to enjoy the spring.”
The senior catcher earned first team all-LSC honors last year after batting
.394 with 12 homeruns. Easter was also named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA
Division II All-America second team and all-South Central Region first team.
The Pioneers were picked to finish third in the LSC south division preseason
poll behind defending national champion Angelo State and Tarleton State.
The Pioneers were 40-15 overall and 10-6 in the LSC last season and finished
with
a trip to the NCAA South Central regional tournament and ranked 24th in the
NFCA Division II Top 25 poll.
TWU begins their 2005 campaign on Feb. 2 with a scrimmage against North Texas
at Pioneer Field. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. The Pioneers start regular
season play on Feb. 5, hosting Cameron for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00
p.m.
