TWO TWU STUDENTS RECEIVE LONE STAR CONFERENCE RECOGNITION
DENTON, Texas (June 26) – Two members of the TWU Athletics family received separate awards from the Lone Star Conference earlier this week.
Robin Hawkins, a senior member of the 2006 TWU Pioneers volleyball team, was one of six winners of the 2006-07 LSC Sports Information Student Academic Award. Woo Hwang, a senior student athletic trainer for TWU, was one of 51 student athletic trainers to earn the 2006-07 LSC Athletic Training Student Academic Award.
Each academic year, the LSC will recognize sports information students and student athletic trainers from across the conference who devote countless hours to assist with the operation of the athletics department while also finding time to excel in the classroom. To be eligible for these awards, sports information students and student athletic trainers must carry at least a 3.20 grade point average with a minimum of 24 semester hours at the nominating institution. The qualifications mirror those required of student-athletes to gain LSC All-Academic recognition.
Hawkins was a valuable member of the TWU Sports Information staff during the 2006-07 school year. In addition to performing day-to-day sports information tasks, she assisted in game operations at all TWU home athletic events.
Hwang made extensive contributions to the TWU Athletic Training staff this past year. He performed training duties in the Pioneers training room and at a variety of practices and games.
