BOWERMAN NAMED SID FOR TWU PIONEERS

DENTON , Texas (October 11) – Texas Woman’s University Director of Athletics Chalese Connors welcomed a fresh face to her staff with the addition of Jeff Bowerman as the Pioneers’ new Sports Information Director.

“Jeff has so much energy and talent and he will be a huge asset to our program,” Connors said. “I’m looking forward to working with him and tapping into his experience to help further promote our student-athletes and staff.”

Bowerman comes to TWU from the Fort Worth Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL). The 32-year-old native of Austin, Texas, had served as the Brahmas’ Vice President of Communications since January 2001.

“This opportunity is very exciting for me,” Bowerman said. “I’m looking forward to working with the outstanding student-athletes, coaches and administration here at TWU.”

TWU, an NCAA Division II institution, competes in five varsity sports. Basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball compete in the Lone Star Conference and gymnastics competes as an independent. In 2005-06, all five Pioneer teams advanced to the postseason in the same season for the first time since 1995-96.

There are approximately 85 student-athletes in the Pioneer athletics program each year. For 48 consecutive semesters (24 years), the combined grade point average of all student-athletes has been 3.0 or higher.

Bowerman is a 1998 graduate of Lyon College ( Batesville, Arkansas) with a B.A. in English. He replaces Darin Allred who returned to his previous position with South Plains College.
