STEVENSON NAMED ASSISTANT ATHLETIC TRAINER

DENTON , Texas – Valerie Stevenson has been named assistant athletic trainer at Texas Woman’s University, head athletic trainer Kris Ring announced, effective August 1, 2006.

“I am very happy to add Valerie to our Athletic Training staff,” Ring said.  “She is an impressive young professional and I am certain she will be a valuable asset to TWU’s athletic program.”

Stevenson joins the Pioneers after stints at the University of Arkansas and the University of Memphis. She was a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the Lady Razorbacks while completing her master’s degree in kinesiology. Stevenson was responsible for the treatment, evaluation and rehabilitation of the Lady’Back softball and soccer teams.

At Memphis, Stevenson was a student athletic trainer for the Tigers working with the football, track and field, women’s basketball and soccer squads. She graduated in 2004 with her bachelor’s degree in education.

Stevenson is certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board and also a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ and Arkansas Athletic Trainers’ Associations.

Stevenson replaces Keri Strong who entered private business.
