TWU CONTINUES ACADEMIC STREAK

DENTON , Texas – Texas Woman’s University student-athletes posted a 3.288 grade point average in the 2006 spring semester for the 48 th straight semester of a cumulative 3.0 GPA or better.

For the fourth consecutive semester, the Pioneer gymnastics team recorded the highest team GPA with a 3.53. The volleyball squad was right behind them with a team GPA of 3.52.

Additionally, 10 student-athletes earned a 4.0 in the spring: Sharon Schaffner and Kandis Schroeder from volleyball; Britney Cochrum, Breann Morris, Aly Vincent and mid-year recruit Callie Lawing from soccer; Brisa Fuentes, Brista Michael and Nicole Poling from gymnastics; and Amanda Arnold from softball.

The Pioneers have 76 student-athletes who compete in five NCAA Division II sports: basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball in the Lone Star Conference and as an independent in gymnastics.
