FUNDRAISER AT RUDY’S BAR-B-Q IS A HIT WITH FANS

DENTON, Texas – The second restaurant fundraiser of the year for student-athlete scholarships was another success as 197 fans participated Wednesday evening at Rudy’s Country Store & Bar-B-Q in Denton.

Pioneer supporters either ate in the restaurant or purchased to-go meals between 5-9 p.m.  Because TWU drew at least 100 participants, Rudy’s donated $127.00, 10 percent of the evening’s sales, to the Pioneer Athletics Fund Drive to benefit student-athlete scholarships.

“We have now had two fundraisers at Denton restaurants for our scholarship fund and our fans have responded,” Director of Athletics Chalese Connors said.  “They know that the scholarship fund drive is crucial to our program and every little bit counts.  Plus, these evenings out are great social events where we stay connected with our boosters and hopefully develop new ones.  I also want to thank the staff at Rudy’s for helping us with a very fun night – the food, the service and the atmosphere were great.”

The last restaurant fundraiser scheduled for the current fund drive will be held at local Tex-Mex favorite, El Guapo’s, on April 25 from 5-9 p.m.  El Guapo’s is located at 419 S. Elm Street in Denton.  The store’s phone number is (940) 566-5575.
