BASKETBALL HOME GAMES PACKED WITH PROMOTIONS
DENTON , Texas – Fans at Texas Woman’s University basketball games will enjoy several new and exciting promotions for the 2005-06 season including a special performance by the Extreme Team.
The Pioneers are featuring giveaways and post-game autograph sessions with TWU players at every home game. Before every contest the first 100 fans will receive Bingo cards. Throughout the game, numbers will be drawn and the first five fans to match five numbers in a vertical, horizontal or diagonal row win a prize. During the seven Lone Star Conference home games and the Texas A&M-Commerce game, one contestant will have the opportunity to win $10,000 at halftime. The fan must make a lay-up, free throw, three-point shot and a half-court shot in 25 seconds to win.
The Sam Houston State game on Dec. 7 is Take a Kid to the Game Night. With each adult admission, a kid will receive a free ticket.
Santa makes a stop at Pioneer Hall on Dec. 10 when TWU hosts Southeastern Oklahoma State. Starting at 6:30 p.m., kids can meet Santa and have a free Polaroid photo taken before the game.
TWU will promote Breast Cancer Awareness on Jan. 2 as the Pioneers take on the University of the Incarnate Word. Admission will be free to this 6 p.m. game.
On Jan. 9, all Denton-area service clubs are invited to Club Night as TWU begins conference play against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
The Pioneers’ game against Angelo State on Jan. 26 will feature a must-see halftime show by the Extreme Team. The Extreme Team has thrilled millions of people around the world with its breathtaking acrobatic slam dunk performances. Bouncing off trampolines to dynamic music, the Extreme Team does flips, comedic antics and dazzling dunks that fans will love. Tickets for this game are $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for students (7-17) and senior citizens (55 and older).
On Jan. 28, TWU hosts Abilene Christian on National Girls and Women’s Sports Day. Denton-area girls’ clubs such as the Girl Scouts and Camp Fire Girls will be recognized.
The Pioneers want everyone to wear maroon for their first annual “Maroon Out” Night on Feb. 9 against West Texas A&M. TWU is selling “2006 Maroon Out” t-shirts for $5.00. Fans can purchase a t-shirt, which is sponsored in part by Groggy Dog Sportswear, at any basketball game or in the Athletics office located in Suite 200 in Pioneer Hall.
TWU will take two games in February to show their appreciation to some special groups. Basketball Alumni Appreciation Day is slated for Feb. 11 at the Eastern New Mexico game. Then on Feb. 16 against Tarleton State, the Pioneers want to recognize all faculty and staff at Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night. The Feb. 16 contest is also Pioneer Pride and Pizza Night. Fans wearing maroon will receive free CiCi’s Pizza while supplies last.
TWU will honor Ashley Browning, Courtney Colmer and Lindsey McCutcheon on Senior Day, Feb. 18, when they host Midwestern State in the final home game of the regular season.
Except for the Jan. 26 game, admission is $4.00 for adults and $3.00 for students (ages 7-17) and senior citizens (55 and older). Six and under are admitted free. All faculty, staff, and students are admitted free with a valid TWU I.D.
