HUMPHRIES TABBED FOR LSC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

HumphriesDENTON , Texas – Texas Woman’s University junior Kelley Humphries was named to the Lone Star Conference South Division All-Academic Team announced by league officials on Monday.

Sophomore Jennifer Schilb earned Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognition for her success in the classroom as well.

Humphries was also tabbed for the 2006 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VI College Division Women’s Basketball Second Team. The Coupland, Texas, native has perfect 4.0 grade point average in biology with a pre-medicine emphasis.

Schilb hails from Coppell, Texas, and is majoring in food and nutrition with a 3.809 GPA at TWU.

SchilbLSC Academic honors included a five-person All-Academic Team, including one Academic Player of the Year, for the LSC North and South Divisions, plus a Commissioner’s Honor Roll in each division.

To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have reached sophomore status and carry at least a 3.20 GPA. The All-Academic Team is selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league’s sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement. All qualifying student-athletes not selected for the All-Academic Team are then named to the Honor Roll.

Also on the South Division All-Academic Team were Tarleton State ’s Ivetta Griffin, the LSC South Division Academic Player of the Year, along with West Texas A&M’s Jennifer Brock and Abilene Christian’s Alex Guiton and Kierstan Barbee.
