PIONEERS CONTINUE POSTSEASON PLAY AGAINST THE RAMBELLES
DENTON , Texas – For the first time in 16 years, Texas Woman’s University has advanced to the semifinals of the Lone Star Conference Postseason Championship Tournament. The Pioneers will play Angelo State on March 3 at 8:00 p.m. in Canyon, Texas, on the campus of West Texas A&M.
The Pioneers (14-13) advanced to the postseason as the fourth seed in the South Division and posted the only upset in the first round of action. TWU defeated the North No. 1 seed Southwestern Oklahoma State, 65-51, to proceed. The South second seed Rambelles (21-7) beat Northeastern State, 64-52.
Friday night’s game will be the third time this season the teams have met. ASU has won both contests including a 78-69 win in Denton on Jan. 26 and a 54-39 decision in San Angelo on Feb. 22.

Texas A&M-Commerce and WT are playing in the other semifinal contest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two semifinal winners move on to the Championship game on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The tournament champion earns the LSC’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Basketball Championship, starting with play in the South Central Regionals.
