PIONEERS TO PLAY BULLDOGS IN POSTSEASON
DENTON , Texas – Texas Woman’s University is making its first appearance since 2002-03 in the postseason and will play Southwestern Oklahoma State in first-round action of the Lone Star Conference Postseason Championship Tournament on Feb. 28 at 7:00 p.m. in Weatherford, Okla.
The Pioneers (13-13, 6-8) advanced as the fourth seed in the South Division. TWU ended the regular season in a two-way tie with Abilene Christian for the final spot in the tournament. The two teams split head-to-head meetings and had identical results against every other division opponent resulting in a coin flip as the tie-breaker, which TWU won.
TWU beat SWOSU 64-53 earlier this season. Admission to the game on Tuesday is $5 for adults and $2 for students. No passes, current or past, will be allowed because of existing conference rules governing admission to league sponsored postseason events.
With a win, the Pioneers will advance to the semifinals on March 3 hosted by the highest remaining seed in the tournament.
TWU is in the midst of its best season since finishing 17-11 overall in 1989-90. The Pioneers last trip to the postseason in 2002-03 ended in a 42-51 loss to Northeastern State in the first round.
