FIVE PIONEERS RECEIVE CONFERENCE ALL-ACADEMIC HONORS

DENTON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference announced the 2004 North Division All-Academic awards and Carley Messmer and Rochelle Schneider were selected to the All-Academic team. Robin Hawkins, Courtney Jones and Melanie Pabalate were named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

TWU was the only school in the north division with two representatives on the team. To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.20 grade point average with a minimum of 24 semester hours completed at the nominating institution.

Messmer played in 113 games for TWU registering 943 set assists overall and 8.35 per game. The junior also put down 206 kills, had 25 aces, 34 blocks and 327 digs including six triple-doubles this year. She was also named to the LSC All-Conference first team this season. Schneider maintains a perfect 4.0 grade point average in accounting at TWU. She played in a team-high 122 games accumulating 293 digs and 28 service aces

Hawkins started 20 matches for the Pioneers. As a sophomore she put down 255 kills with 120 digs and 35 total blocks. Jones led the team in kills and service aces. She had 280 kills including a three-game stretch in which she had 20 or more. In addition, she registered 46 service aces. Jones earned all-conference honorable mention honors this season as well. Pabalate was second on the team in kills and blocks. She had 278 kills, 16 service aces, 64 digs and 74 blocks.
