PIONEERS FALL 2-0

CANYON, Texas – The Texas Woman’s University soccer team lost to West Texas A&M, 2-0, in conference action.

The weather was a factor as rain came down hard for most of the game onto the FieldTurf surface.

In the first 45 minutes, the Pioneers (3-6, 0-2) controlled the game.

“We played hard and with heart but need to find a way to score,” said head coach Fleur Benatar.

Still scoreless, the Lady Buffs scored twice in the second half. The first goal was off a corner kick for West Texas A&M and they added another one with a breakaway score.

Each team managed just seven shots in the back and forth contest and West Texas A&M took six corner kicks compared to just one for TWU.

“Breann (Morris) and Christine (Hornisher) played awesome,” added Benatar, “The whole defense did a good job as well.”

The Pioneers are now 0-2-1 all-time against the Lady Buffs.

Next, TWU travels to San Antonio , Texas , to play Incarnate Word, Oct. 1, and St. Mary’s, Oct. 3.
