SOCCER FALLS IN OVERTIME, 2-1
PORTALES , N.M. – The Texas Woman’s University soccer team fell to Eastern New Mexico , 2-1 in overtime, to open Lone Star Conference play.
The Pioneers (3-5, 0-1) are now 0-2 all-time against the Zias (5-4, 1-0).
TWU struck first when sophomore Christine Hornisher scored at the 35:33 mark to put the Pioneers ahead for most of the game.
ENMU found the back of the net in the 81st minute to tie the game before the end of regulation.
In overtime, ENMU won the game nine minutes in with a Lauren Standefer goal.
Krista Elbert had eight saves in goal for TWU.
Next, TWU plays West Texas A&M, Sept. 26, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
