PIONEERS WIN IN OVERTIME
DALLAS, Texas – Freshman Sue Cribbes scored two goals including the game winner in overtime as the Texas Woman’s University soccer team defeated Dallas Baptist, 3-2.
“Everybody played outstanding tonight,” said head coach Fleur Benatar, “We really played with heart and took it to them.”
Dallas Baptist jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Christine Hornisher scored at the end of the first half to start the comeback for TWU.
Less than a minute into the second half, Cribbes scored off a header to tie the game. The Pioneers had opportunities to end the game in regulation but could not capitalize.
In the first overtime, Cribbes scored on a header to give TWU their first win of the season.
Freshman Krista Elbert was outstanding in between the posts in the second half for the Pioneers holding Dallas Baptist.
TWU returns to action, Sept. 10, at Texas Wesleyan beginning at 3 p.m.
