BAPTIST DEFEATS PIONEERS
BOLIVAR,
Mo. – The Texas Woman’s University soccer
team fell to Southwest Baptist in non-conference action action,
6-1.
“Today we had trouble getting organized in the first half but in the second
half we had our opportunities,” said head coach Fleur Benatar, “The
game was tough but we are looking forward to being back in Denton against North
Texas.”
The Pioneers struck first as sophomore Emily Meinen scored at the 5:50 mark.
After that it was all the Lady Bearcats with four goals in the first half before
adding two more in the second half.
Junior Sara Weaver made five saves in goal for the Pioneers.
“Weaver was outstanding again, she made some good saves including stopping
a penalty kick,” added Benatar.
Next, TWU plays cross-town rival UNT, Sunday, Sept. 5, at the Mean Green Soccer
Complex; action begins at 1:00 p.m.
