SOCCER FALLS TO DRURY

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Texas Woman’s University soccer team started the 2004 campaign against Drury falling, 4-0, in the first game of the season for both teams.

“ We played well today and had three golden opportunities to score but did not capitalize,” said head coach Fleur Benatar, “The second half was better.

Drury scored at the 28:22 mark and added two more goals right before halftime to take control of the game. Junior Sara Weaver started in between the posts and finished with three saves for the Pioneers. Emily Meinen and Sue Cribbes each had two shots on goal for TWU.

“ Sara did an outstanding job as our goalkeeper, she had some great plays,” added Benatar.

Next, TWU travels to Bolivar, Mo., to take on Southwest Baptist in non-conference action beginning at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow.
