Meetings

Our ASSET meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month.  We have a general open meeting in October with a membership drive around the same time.  The rest of the meetings are usually closed to members.  Members sign up to hostess a meeting and will bring a wide variety of presentations. The following are topics for this year's monthly meetings:

The ASSET board meets the Tuesday before the monthly meeting at 12:00 p.m. in SH 202G.

September 20, 2011, ASSET Board will host; meet and greet/potluck and membership Drive.
October 18, 2011, Hosts Dorcyle McClure and Carolyn Brown; Tim Refsland - Technology-Related.
November 15, 2011, ASSET Members will host; covered dish potluck with Thanksgiving-themed foods (possibly some recipes from ASSET cookbook!)
December 20, 2011, Hosts Kathleen Hedges and Sharon Master; Holiday potluck lunch.
January 24, 2012, Hosts Virginia Wing and Jan Christensen; Christopher Johnson, Health Research and the Starch-Based Diet.
February 21, 2012, Hosts Bo Carter and Dominga Dominquez; TWU Conference Services Presentation - David Sweeten.
March 20, 2012, Hosts Laura Hensley and Teresa Pierce; Fred hensley; LJ Strategies on Business Management.
April 17, 2012, Hosts Carol Nelson and Sara Deines; Matt Moustakas, TWU Safety Program.
May 15, 2012, Hosts Tesse Scott and Gail Orlando; TWU Nutrition, Healthy Living and Exercise Speaker, HDB Office. 
June 19, 2012, Hosts Jill Stover and TBD; Secret Pal revealed for 2011-12 and Guess Your Secret Pal (Trivia).
July 17, 2012, ASSET Board will host; Installation of Officers and Scholarship Presentations.

Events and Fundraisers

We participate in the following events and fundraisers:

Adopt-A-Spot - six times a year.  ASSET is responsible for the upkeep of Oakland Street between Texas and Locust. 
Craft Fair - Winter Wonderland in December
Bake Sales
Thanksgiving Potluck
Secret Pal Drawing
Christmas meeting where we bring our secret pal a "secret" gift
Holiday adopt a child

Sometimes we have ASSET family nights or get together to see musicals, etc.

ASSET has  New Cookbook!!
This expanded edition of TWU Cooks includes even more wonderful recipes from our ASSET members and more history.  The proceeds go to our J. Wilkes Berry, Ph.D. Memorial Endowment Fund and the ASSET Scholarship.  Order a copy now!

ASSET Membership Drive

Although our membership drive is usually in October, you can join any time of year.  We count on your support and valued contribution to the ASSET staff family.  ASSET provides:

  • interesting monthly programs and topics beneficial to staff members
  • support to our staff through scholarship
  • sharing of common interests and development opportunities
  • enhancement our university environment
  • networking

ASSET & Adopt-a-Spot: Our Service to Our Community

ASSET's contract with Keep Denton Beautiful states that ASSET is responsible for the upkeep of Oakland Street between Texas and Locust. Our contract stipulates that we clean up our area at least six times during the year.

We would like to see each member commit to walk either once or twice during the year. If you can comply, that’s all any of us would have to do. The project requires the participation of everyone and the Keep Denton Beautiful office appreciates your help!
