A Professional Life Enriched with Women's Studies
Women's studies provides graduates with the benefits of a liberal arts degree combined with enhanced critical thinking skills applicable to many careers. Managers often prefer liberal arts majors, confident in the new candidate's organizational skills, writing talents, and oral presentation experience. A degree in Women's Studies also equips graduates to approach ethical standards, women's historiography, and workplace issues from a more informed perspective. Moreover, the growth of women's agencies and organizations sparks demands for graduates with specializations in Women's Studies, and the professions of law, medicine, social work, teaching, counseling, and government service clamor for expertise on gender issues. Similarly, women's studies specialists increasingly serve as consultants in industry, higher education, and insurance and personnel firms. Finally, Women's Studies graduates have a stronger intellectual base from which to draw while pursuing careers traditionally held by men.
