Graphic Design

The Graphic Design major (formerly Advertising Design) prepares students for a wide variety of careers in advertising and graphic design. Through a rigorous investigation of typography, the relationship between text and image, visual communication theory, publication design, package design, web design, multimedia authoring, together with problem solving techniques and professional practices students develop a wide range of valuable skills.


Students receive a comprehensive technical foundation. Students become proficient in the Macintosh operating system and receive intensive instruction in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Quark Xpress. New courses in web design and multimedia authoring using Macromedia Dreamweaver and Director have been added to the graphic design curriculum.
