M.F.A. - Painting, Drake University John Weinkien is the Visual Arts Chair and has been a member of the faculty since 2000. "It is in accordance with my intention of object making to be mindful that nothing is wasted - to infer an abundance, richness, and latent potential accessible in all materials. Additionally, it is important to me to seek transcendence of the material beyond the found object. To simply point out to others the overwhelming amount of waste that occurs in a very didactic form does not engage me. To touch the materials in ways that are personally full of ritual process is ultimately the rewarding connection." |
