Graduate Program in Sociology
The Department of Sociology and Social Work offers a Master of Arts and PhD in Sociology.

Graduates are prepared for rewarding careers as teachers in colleges and universities as well as researchers and sociologists for business and government. While the program emphasizes basic methods and theory, it also offers students a broad selection of courses which apply to many professional fields where an advanced knowledge of research methods and sociological theory is important. Opportunities continue to expand for the graduate who can apply his or her knowledge to enhance the well-being of people in today's technological society. TWU is a member of the Federation of North Texas Area Universities. The Federation of North Texas Area Universities includes Texas A&M University-Commerce, Texas Woman's University, and the University of North Texas. Together these universities form a network that offers graduate students access to their combined facilities including faculty, libraries, and computer services. Each of the universities in the Federation offers the Master of Arts and/or Master of Science degrees in sociology.

The Doctor of Philosophy degree in sociology is granted by both Texas Woman's University and the University of North Texas. Students enrolled at either university may complete a portion of their graduate work at the other university. The degree is conferred by the university to which the student was admitted.
