Alexandria's
Ragtime Band is a performing organization of the
Department of Performing Arts at Texas Woman's
University. The group was created in 1982 by Dr. John W.
Flohr, Professor of Music. Students from several major
fields of study perform in the group.
Alexandria's
Ragtime Band specializes in the ragtime and dixieland
idioms of the late 19th and early 20th century American
jazz music. The band has performed widely in the United
States and Europe. They have won acclaim at the National
Women's jazz festival in Kansas City.
