Office of State Senator Jane Nelson

An internship is a valuable opportunity to see how a Texas State Senate office functions, and to contribute to our efforts to serve and represent the people of Senate District 12. Unpaid internship. Hours can be somewhat flexible. Our office is open from 8:30 to 5:30, Monday through Friday. Senator Nelson is a Republican representing Senate District 12 which includes parts of Denton and Tarrant Counties.

Primary Duties

Assist Senator and office staff with:

  • Correspondence
  • Constituent casework
  • Maintenance of files, media lists, reference shelves, etc.
  • Monitoring district press
  • General administrative tasks
  • Political events

The above list is not necessarily all-inclusive. The intern may become involved with other aspects of the work in a legislative office as needed.

Qualifications

Pleasant, professional manner when dealing with people on the telephone or in person. Strong writing skills are important. Familiarity with computers is a plus.
