Katherine Landdeck, Assistant Professor of History, joined the TWU Department of History and Government in the fall of 2002. She earned her B.A. in History and Political Science at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1992 and her M.A. and Ph.D. in History from the University of Tennessee. Landdeck was a Guggenheim Fellow at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in 2000. She teaches American History survey courses as well as upper-level and graduate courses on World War II, Oral History, and other topics in twentieth century America. Her primary topic of interest is the Women Airforce Service Pilots, or WASP, of World War II. Landdeck is working with the TWU Woman's Collection, which holds the WASP archives, on an internship program in which students have the opportunity to work with the oral histories and collections of the WASP. She is the co-sponsor of the department's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the history honor society.
