Pat Devereaux moved to Texas from Long Island, New York in December 1987 when her husband accepted a job based in Dallas. In August 1988, she enrolled at Texas Woman's University to finish an undergraduate degree begun twenty-seven years before at the College of New Rochelle in New York. Like Texas Woman's University, New Rochelle was founded to educate women and this similarity attracted Mrs. Devereaux to TWU.
In 1990, she earned a B.S. in Government and enrolled in the graduate program the following semester. After she received an M.A. in Government from TWU in May 1993, she accepted an appointment as Lecturer with the History and Government faculty.
Mrs. Devereaux teaches U.S. National Government, Texas Government, Constitutional
Law, and is the director of the departmental internship
program. She has served as faculty advisor to the student government organization,
the TWU Mortar Board chapter, Barristers, and faculty liaison
for the History and Government Chapter of the National Association of Former
Students.
When she isn't working, she and her husband enjoy playing golf, spending time with their children and grandchildren, or heading for the nearest beach.
