As with other testing programs, a student may attempt a CLEP examination at a national CLEP test center before registering in any Spanish classes. Any current or former TWU student (or prospective student) may attempt to earn credit by examination for a Spanish course, provided the student has neither passed nor failed said course at TWU. Also, the student is responsible for complying with the following procedures:

    1. Course credit earned by examination is recorded by the Registrar on the student's
transcript and a grade of Credit (CR) will be given on the examination to those earning credit, but the grade will not be considered in determining grade-point averages nor are grade points awarded. Credits earned by exam will be recorded on the student's permanent record upon successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of academic work at TWU.

    2. Standards for awarding credit by exam for courses are set by the academic
    departments.

    3. After the 12th class day, students may not attempt credit by examination for Spanish courses in which students are enrolled.

    4. Spanish Credit by examination may not be attempted for a course with the same specific Spanish level as a more advanced course in the same specific Spanish level completed in the classroom.

    5. College Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests cannot be repeated before six months have passed.

French

  • Students scoring 44-58 on the approved CLEP exam will be awarded credit for French 1013
  • Students scoring 59-79 on the approved CLEP exam will be awarded credit for French 1013 and French 1023
  • Students scoring 80-above on the approved CLEP exam will be awarded credit for French 1013, French 1023, and French 1033

***Credit will be placed on the student’s permanent record at the conclusion of the first semester of enrollment at the University. Credit received at another college or university will be accepted in transfer upon receipt of an official transcript. A student may not receive credit by examination for a course in which she or he has enrolled. No more than 30 hours can be received as credit by examination. Official score reports should be sent to the Registrar’s Office. ESFL does not arrange for credit by examination. That is the student's responsibility.
