Marilyn Bratcher Davis, 1972, Nursing
Texas Governor Rick Perry recently appointed Marilyn Davis, a Registered Nurse, for a six year term to the Texas State Board of Nursing.
Ms. Davis most recent employer was The Menninger Clinic where she worked for over four and half years as a Nurse Coordinator and Staff Nurse. She also has held numerous other professional positions as Clinical Director, Nurse Manager, Adjunct professor and military officer in the United States Air Force Nurse Corp. Some of her aforementioned positions were with the Veterans Administration (VA), Auburn University School of Nursing, Howard University Hospital Psych Unit, Mental Health Mental Retardation of Harris County (MHMRA), University of Nebraska Medical Center, Loma Linda University Medical Center and Southern Maryland hospital.
Ms. Davis is a member of many professional organizations and is active in her local community of Sugar Land, TX. She and her husband have two sons.
Kathy Williams, 1981, BA Journalism
Journalist Kathy Williams, VP News Director for the FOX affiliate station in Houston has been awarded two recent honors. The news staff received 17 Lone Star Emmys with Kathy herself winning two. She was also recently named News Director of the year by American Women in Radio and Television.
A mother and children’s book author, Kathy has donated hundred of hours to child and literacy projects. She is a Distinguished Alumnae of Texas Woman’s University and TWU Foundation Board member. She serves on the boards for the Advancement of Mexican Americans and the Houston Association of Black Journalists.
Jennifer S. Stephens, 1990, MLS
Jennifer S. Stephens was recently elected to the board of the Private Law Libraries Special Interest Section of the American Association of Law Libraries. PLL-SIS is the largest special interest section of AALL with over 1,200 members.
Jennifer has previously served the Dallas Association of Law Librarians (a chapter of the American Association of Law Libraries) as President (2000-2001), Secretary (2005-2007) and Internet Committee Chair and Webmaster (1997-1007)
Anne C. Thomas, PhD 1994, Nursing
Anne Thomas is an experienced health researcher and educator recently appointed as Director of the graduate programs at the University of Indianapolis School of Nursing.
She has previously been at the Michigan School of nursing as a clinical assistant professor and coordinator of the Adult Practitioner Program and at the National Cancer Institute and the National Institute of Nursing Research in Bethesda, MD. Thomas’ specialties and research interests have included health promotion, cancer screening in older adults and healthcare decision-making among chronically ill and older patients.

Peter and Lisa Carver are proud to announce the birth of their sons, fraternal triplets, John Cooper Carver, Henry Finn Carver, and Mason James Carver, born April 18, 2007. The Carver family resides in Asheville, NC where Peter is Drama Instructor at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College.

Mark Gordon Ritter is the Director of Nursing at California Pacific Medical Center in the San Francisco area.

Sandy Cesario, Ph.D., 1999, Nursing
Robin Britt and Sandy Cesario have been named as American Academy of Nursing Fellows (FAMM) and will be inducted into the prestigious group in November of 2008 in Scottsdale, AZ. FAAM is comprised of nursing leaders in education, management, practice and research. Potential Fellows must show evidence of outstanding contributions to the improvement of nursing at the national or international level and are selected by an admissions committee and the membership. After induction members are designated with the FAAN title.
Robin serves as a Senior Institutional Development Officer and Professor at Texas Woman’s University, Houston campus. Sandy is Associate Professor and Doctoral Coordinator on the TWU Houston campus.
Lea Christine Savolainen, 2005, BS Biology
Lea Savolainen is currently seeking her Master’s of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences at Texas A&M University where she will graduate this summer. She was recently awarded a scholarship by the Texas Aquaculture Association and was featured in this month’s Texas Aquaculture Association newsletter. In addition Lea won two awards at symposiums at which she presented her project titled “Evaluation of the prebiotic GroBiotic-A in the diet of juvenile common goldfish (Carassius auratus) in the presence or absence of natural productivity”.
Lori Jamail, 2006, Masters of Business Administration
Lori Jamail has been appointed marketing director of McConnell, Jones, Lanier and Murphy, LLP, a full-service professional services firm, in Houston. She will be responsible for firm-wide marketing activities including the establishment of public relations strategies, communication and presentation material, marketing processes and branding guidelines. Lori is active in professional organizations including the American Marketing Association, Association for Accounting Marketing and Executive Women International.
