How do I know if I am a transfer student?
Students are considered transfer students if they have completed, at the time of application, a minimum of 12 or more transferable semester hours. Students with fewer than 12 semester hours are still eligible to apply; however, their admission decision will be based solely on their high school academic performance.
What are the requirements for admission to TWU as a transfer student?
Cumulative G.P.A. of 2.0 or above (on 4.0) for all college work. Additionally, you may view the transfer admission requirements. (Please note that academic departments may have additional admissions criteria.)
How does the application process for transfer students work?
- Complete the ApplyTexas Application for transfer students
- Submit a non-refundable application fee of $30.00 (International student application fee is $50.00)
- Provide official copies of college transcripts from all previously attended institutions
- Transfer from an accredited college or university in good academic standing
Is there provisional admission for transfer students?
No, transfer students must meet the minimum admissions requirements at TWU.
If I have previously applied for admission, but decided to attend another school, will I have to re-apply?
Once you have been accepted into TWU, your admission is good for two years before you have to apply again. However, if your application is over two years old, you will need to go through the application process again. For more information on re-applying, please contact the TWU Admissions Office.
If I repeat a course, how is my GPA calculated?
If a course is repeated more than once for credit, the last grade earned will be recognized for transfer.
Do I have to declare a major before transferring? Can I change it after I transfer?
You may transfer to TWU without declaring a major, however, to be admitted to certain programs, a major may be required. TWU strongly encourages students to declare a major by the time they have earned 30 (semester) hours. Also, students wishing to be eligible for financial aid must declared a major if beyond freshman classification.
What courses from a community college will transfer to Texas Woman's University?
Courses from most community colleges will transfer. The best recommendation is to enroll in "core" or basic classes, such as: English composition, mathematics, social and behavioral science, history and government. A list of additional core classes can be found in the Undergraduate Catalog.
Do you accept military credits?
Some military credit can be applied toward your Texas Woman's University. In order to have your military work evaluated, summit your ACE transcript with your other required documents to TWU, Student Records Processing, P.O. Box 425649, Denton, TX 76204.
Do "D's" transfer to TWU?
Yes, D's do transfer to TWU, however, your major may require you to have a "C" or better for their degree plan.
What is the deadline for transfer scholarships?
You must be accepted to TWU by March 1st, in order to be considered for a scholarship. Scholarship and Financial Aid applications can be found on the Financial Aid Office Website.
Is TWU a private university? What is the cost of attendance?

Do transfer students attend Orientation?
Accepted transfer students attend a one-day Orientation in the fall, spring or summer designed to meet their needs and to answer questions specific to transfer issues. For additional information, please contact the Center for Student Development at 940.898.3626, or register for Orientation Online.
Where is TWU located?
Our main campus is located in Denton, just 35 miles north of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. We also have campuses in the heart of the Houston Medical Center, and at Parkland and Presbyterian Hospitals in Dallas.
Do men attend TWU?
Yes! Men have been attending TWU since the 1970's. Male students make up about 10% - 15% of total enrollment.
Will I have to live on campus?
Full-time undergraduate students who are single, under 21 and have less than 60 college hours, are required to live on campus, unless you are veterans of the military or living with a legal guardian or parent within the Dallas/Fort Worth commuting area.
