Checklist for Applying to the High School Advantage Program

High School Counselor Visit

Students are encouraged to arrange for a conference with his/her high school counselor to obtain the necessary forms and requirements concerning approved TWU courses.

Application for Admission

Students must complete and submit the following information:

  • TWU High School Advantage Program Application. Student, parent, and principal/counselor signatures will certify permission for enrollment into the High School Advantage Program.
  • A $30 non-refundable application fee
  • Official Transcript. Students must submit the most recent official high school transcript. The transcript should show the student's rank, GPA and completed courses.

Official THEA score

Students must provide applicable THEA or proof of exemption. A student may be exempt from THEA based on any one of the scores listed below:

  • An ACT composite score of 23 or higher,
    • if 19 or higher on English, then exempt from THEA Reading/Writing Section.
    • if 19 or higher on Math, then exempt from THEA Math Section.
  • An SAT combined score of 1070 or higher,
    • if 500 or higher on Critical Reasoning, then exempt from THEA Reading/Writing
    • if 500 Math, then exempt from THEA Math.
  • A TAKS score of 3 or higher on writing test; score of 2200 ELA; and 2200 Math.

TWU Identification Card

TWU student I.D. cards will be issued to all High School Advantage students. The I.D. cards authorize students to use the University library and various facilities on campus.

Orientation/Registration

You will receive information concerning orientation sessions scheduled prior to the beginning of classes. Students will register for TWU courses at this mandatory orientation.
