Excellence 2010-2011 TWU students gathering Achievements
  • $3.7 million grant for Reading Recovery — In 2010, TWU was awarded a $3.7 million U.S. Dept. of Education grant for Reading Recovery®, an early literacy intervention program. The university will use its grant monies to train 250 teachers over the next five years.
  • $700,000 grant for Weekend Nursing Program — TWU will use $744,422 in federal grant money to expand its weekend nursing program in Dallas. The grant will help fund 80 new nursing students in the TWU Weekend Nursing Program over a three-year period (2010-2013).
  • Star Award — TWU’s Undergraduate Weekend Nursing Program is one of four programs in the state to receive a prestigious 2010 Texas Higher Education Star Award from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
  • School of Library and Information Studies — In 2010, the master of arts in library science and master of library science programs at TWU earned continued accreditation from the American Library Association through the spring of 2017.
  • Nation's first online honor society — In 2010, TWU launched Epsilon Omega Epsilon (EOE), the nation’s first honor society exclusively for students pursuing a degree through online education.
