Students are exempt from state assessment requirements if they meet at least one of the following requirements.  Please note that Education majors, regardless of exemptions, MUST take Accuplacer or THEA prior to enrolling in certain Education courses.

Transfer from an accredited (private or out-of-state) institution at which the student has satisfactorily completed college-level coursework as determined by TWU      
Academic Associate's or Bachelor's degree (from a Texas public institution)      
Transfer from an institution at which the student has met readiness standards by that institution (Texas public)      
Enrolled in a certificate program of one year or less at a public junior college, public technical institute, or public state college.
Currently serving and, for at least the three-year period preceding enrollment, has served as a member of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States

*TSI requirements can be waived for active-duty military.  To receive either the exemption or the waiver, please submit your DD214 or Notice of Benefits Eligibility to the Registrar's office.
