All students who are required to take the English Placement Self-Directed Placement must do so prior to new student orientation. Students will be emailed directly by the Office of Undergraduate Studies if they are required to complete the Placement process for English in advance of orientation.

Exemptions for the English Placement test are as follows:

• SAT verbal scores of 440 or higher
• ACT English scores of 18 or higher
• THEA writing score of 240 or higher
• Students who have college level credit for English 1013
• a score of 4 or more on an approved AP exam
• scores from the 60th percentile or greater on an approved CLEP exam

Students, please be sure to bring a copy of your scores with you to orientation.
