School of Occupational Therapy to highlight student research
during 16th annual Celebration of Scholarship

DALLAS —
The Texas Woman’s University School of Occupational
Therapy student honor society, Pi Theta Epsilon-Dallas Chapter,
will host its 16th annual Celebration of Scholarship from
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, April 25. The event, which showcases
student research, will take place in the auditorium of the
School of Occupational Therapy on TWU’s Presbyterian
campus, 8194 Walnut Hill Lane in Dallas.
Registration is
$30 prior to April 18 and $40 after that date. Student admission
is free, but registration is required. Those who attend the
conference will have the opportunity to earn 5.5 continuing

Dr. Sally Schultz,
Ph.D, OTR/L, LCP, director of the TWU School of Occupational
Therapy, is the invited scholar for the conference. Her lecture,
titled “Shaping Research through Practice,” will
highlight the importance of occupational therapy as a science-driven,
evidence-based profession.
Dr. Schultz is
one of the founding contributors to the “Theory of Occupational
Adaptation.” Her most recent work is in the 11th edition
of Willard and Spackman’s “Occupational Therapy”
textbook. Dr. Schultz has received numerous awards and honors
including the 1996 “Occupational Therapist of the Year”
by the Texas Occupational Therapy Association and the 1984
Texas Theta Chapter of Alpha Chi Teaching Award. She also
served as the 1993 chair of the Texas Occupational Therapy
State Licensure Board. Dr. Schultz’s practice career
has been focused on designing programs for chronic mental
illness and students with behavior disorders. She has recently
focused on the interface between neuroscience and occupational
therapy in interventions for stroke and traumatic brain injuries.
Dr. Schultz has
been the director of the TWU School of Occupational Therapy
since 2001. In addition, she is a professor for the TWU occupational
therapy doctoral program. Dr. Schultz earned a bachelor of
business administration degree and a master’s of education
degree in counseling/community mental health at Texas Tech
University in Lubbock. She received her master’s of
occupational therapy from TWU and her Ph.D. in special education/behavior
disorders from the University of North Texas.
