Because passing the TExES exams is a state requirement for teaching certification, students in the teacher education program are encouraged to take their exams as early as possible. Each student in the teacher education program must complete three requirements in regard to the TExES exams before being approved to student teach. These are described below along with the steps involved in completing each requirement.
1. Complete six clock hours of TExES exam preparation
Use the resources of the TExES PREP Center
Documentation can be obtained from the TExES PREP Center
2. Register for and take the state content TExES exam
Be admitted to teacher education
Take a practice TExES exam through TWU
Obtain approval from your department
Send an e-mail to Student Support with your name, TWU ID and exam to be taken
3. Register for and take the state PPR TExES exam
Be admitted to teacher education
Take the practice TExES PPR exam in EDUC 3003
Send an e-mail to Student Support with your name, TWU ID and exam to be taken
