Job Opportunities
and Financial Aid
The undergraduate catalog gives you a considerable amount of information on grants and
scholarships. These are administered by the
Financial Aid Office. Most jobs are in the
work study category -- apply early for eligibility consideration.
Competitive scholarships are awarded once a year, during April, by the department. Scholarships in the amount of $1000.00 qualify the recipient for in-state tuition. Procedures for the selection of award recipients can be obtained by calling the Biology Office 940.898.2354.
There are a limited number of employment opportunities available in the Biology Department:
-
If you are eligible for work study, contact the departmental secretary in GRB 230, who can tell you which faculty members have work study funds and wish to employ a student.
-
A limited number of students can be employed as regular student help. The Biology Department Secretary has information on the availability of appointments in this category.
- If you intend to choose a research career you may be eligible for support from the Multi-ethnic Biomedical Research
Support program. Contact the MBRS project coordinator, Ms. Anne
Downing at 940.898.3328 or the Biology Department Office 940.898.2354.
