WORKSHOP CANCELLED DUE TO NIH BUDGET CONSTRAINTS!!!

We apologize, but the NCBI workshop scheduled for Mar 27-28,2008 has been cancelled due to budgetary constraints at NIH.
(Please see the attached email from NCBI below) If we are able to offer another workshop in the future, we will contact everyone who signed up for this one.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Brian W. Beck (bbeck@twu.edu).

Letter from NCBI I am afraid that we won't be able to offer the NCBI course scheduled for March 27 and 28 at Texas Women's University. Because of budgetary constraints, NCBI has made reductions in some of its programs, and the education programs are affected. In fact, all outreach education programs are terminated effective immediately. I'm terribly sorry about the short notice. This was as much a surprise to me as it is to you.
At this point we cannot reschedule the course or accept requests for future courses. I apologize for any inconvenience that the cancellation causes to your educational programs. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.

present the Free Bioinformatics Training workshop:

A Field Guide to GenBank and NCBI Molecular Biology Resources
Mar 27-28, 2008.

Course Description

The course consists of a 3-hour afternoon lecture on Thursday Mar 27 from 2:30-5:30pm, followed Friday, Mar 28 by one of two identical 3-hour (9am-12 or 2-5pm) hands-on instructor-led computer workshops. During the Friday sessions, students will gain first-hand experience with the resources at the NCBI site and will learn how to apply these resources in their specific research area. The course provides practical information about GenBank, RefSeq and the integrated genome resources, as well as the other databases maintained at the NCBI. It also provides instruction on effective use of Entrez and BLAST, the two main database search tools.
