Texas Woman's
University Herbarium
After having been dormant
for over 50 years, the TWU Herbarium began to be resurrected
in 2000 and will be open for use in 2003. The collection has two parts: on-going
and newly added specimens, and an historical collection containing specimens
donated by well-known Texas collectors and botanists from 1903 to 1947. This
historical collection is particularly valuable for the information it provides
concerning the flora of several areas in Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth-Denton, Austin-Houston,
and Big Bend National Park) at the beginning of the last century. For a more

The Herbarium is located on the third floor of the
Graduate
Research Building (GRB R324), Denton Campus.
Any person wishing to use specimens in the collection must contact
Dr.
Camelia Maier, Herbarium Curator, for permission to use the collection.
Use of the Herbarium is by prior arrangement only and restricted to normal working
hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday). For more information on policies
